The Butterflies project by Sahodari

Most transsexual people are poor and lack even basic education. This is because many of them have been driven out from their families or they choose to leave their bilogical families unable to tolerate the violence and discrimination.

'Butterflies' is a project by Sahodari. It is a project that will slowly change the poor and dow- trodden transgender people into people who are economically independent, people who live a dgnified life, people who can play a responsible role for the development of the society at large, people who can be proud citizens of this country.

The Shasun Jain colllege for women provided the training and a small loan of Rs.6000 for the project. Few friends helped us with another 6000 rupees to start the project

We did our first exhibition of our products proudly at the Duchess Club Duchess Show in Chennai which was a moderate success. We have submitted a proposal to the Social Welfare Board, Chennai. We hope they will sanction our project. We are waiting.
