Marriage and adoption

Transsexual women and men should have the right to marry, adopt children and be entitled to all legal protections that non-transgender people are entitled to. Presently in India, there is no legislation to regulate transsexual people's marriages. It is important that an amendment be introduced in marriage laws. That is why we have been campaigning fiercely for matrimonial rights for transsexual people.

On August 28th, Sahodari launched the world’s first matrimonial website for transsexual women called Thirunangai.net with two objectives, one is to find the right partners for the transsexual women and the other is to raise the issues of marriage and adoption rights since there is no amendment on marriage laws for transsexual people now.
